Learn from the Soviet Union and lay a good foundation

Right after the founding of the HBC, with the help by the former Soviet Union, HBC established a comparatively complete technology and management system. Based on the absorption of the former Soviet Union’s technology, we developed series domestic medium-pressure products of different grades with different furnace types, which adapt to a variety of fuels and developed auxiliary equipment for the 25,000 tons/y synthetic ammonia project, which put an end to China’s history of not being able to manufacture power station boilers and pressure vessels. During this period, we developed successfully the first domestically made 230t/h and 410t/h high-pressure boilers, and our country began to enter a new era for high-pressure boiler production.

Self-reliance and hard work

The experts of the former Soviet Union began and continued to evacuate from HBC in 1960. The people of HBC shouldered the heavy responsibility of the development of China's equipment manufacturing industry with our strong backbones resolutely and opened the road towards self-reliance and hard work with our great patriotism and ambition to serve the country. The first domestically made ultra-high pressure 670t/h boiler was developed by us, which became a product among a series of boilers, indicating a leap forward from high pressure boilers to super-high pressure boilers.

Introduction of technology, optimization and innovation

The spring breeze of reform and opening-up brought new development opportunities to HBC. In order to improve our international competitiveness, HBC cooperated with foreign companies and introduced their knowhow. We introduced subcritical boiler technology in 1980, introduced medium-size and small-size CFB boiler technology.in 1999. We independently developed 300MW subcritical natural circulation boiler, resulting in upgrading and transformation from 100MW and 200MW boilers, as the main products, to 300MW and 600MW boilers, as the main products. In 1994, HBC carried out shareholding system reorganization, shifting from a factory based system to a company system, and gradually realized internationalization of technology and management systems.

Internationalization and rapid development

With the reform of electric power system of this country, a new rapid development period came to the electric power industry. HBC seized the opportunity and successively introduced supercritical and ultra-supercritical boilers, and high-capacity CFB and other technologies, realized full-scale integration with the world, and started a new journey of rapid development. At the same time, we carried out the strategy of development driven by innovation and improved the route for technical development, made progress towards of independent R&D and innovation on original technologies. We successively developed large-scale CFB, supercritical and high-efficiency ultra-supercritical boilers and other internationally leading products. The ability of HBC in innovation and R&D of boilers has reached the international advanced level.

Transformation, upgrading and high-quality development

The green development has become the key word of development of the electric power industry. HBC made a right prediction ahead of time and actively promoted the study on high-efficiency clean coal-burning technology. The company successively developed double reheat boilers for Anyuan and Laiwu power plants, opening up the new era for double reheat coal-fired generator sets in China. Focus was put on the future development direction for power station boilers, to accelerate the pace of research on power station boilers with 630℃, 650℃, 700℃ and higher temperatures. At the same time, with the supply-side structural reform as the main guideline and with high-quality development as the goal, we will accelerate the pace of transformation and upgrading, promote the transformation and innovation of enterprise operation mode, and open up a new path for the high-quality development of power station boilers.
